New CQIB President lists focus areas

Regional Insurance Brokers GM Danny Brandon, the new President of the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers (CQIB), has outlined the key focus areas of the organisation.

“We want to ensure CQIB remains relevant in the ever-changing environment we all work with,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“With insurers requiring more detailed information about the risk being presented to them, businesses and clients will need the expertise of a broker to navigate this so they can achieve the best outcome.

“Our focus will be to review existing member services, develop and deliver new member services that position the relevance and value CQIB can provide.”

Mr Brandon was appointed President last week at the CQIB annual general meeting and he takes over from Aviso Select CEO Andrew Hinz, who has held the role for six years since 2017.

Mr Hinz stays on the nine-person board as member while North Queensland Insurance Brokers Director Ron Bellert is Vice President and Link Insurance Brokers Director Tom Cullinan is Treasurer.

The other five board members are Piranha Insurance Brokers MD Heather Peirano, Rivers Insurance Brokers Director Don Tickle, Tony Bemrose Insurance Brokers MD Sean Bemrose, East Coast Insurance Brokers owner Chris Murfin and Apex Insurance Director Gary Fletcher.

CQIB says as only one nomination was received for each position all nominees were elected unopposed in line with the organisation’s constitution.

The Queensland organisation was founded in 1980 and its members collectively place in excess of $500 million in annual premiums from more than 200,000 clients.
