CBN goes the distance to raise $42,000 for Foodbank

Community Broker Network (CBN) has raised $42,000 for food relief organisation Foodbank, through its inaugural charity challenge.

The fundraising event saw 10 CBN representatives and partners, led by AJB Insurance Solutions MD Anthony Barbara, endure a week-long 66km trek through the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail.

CBN network member Sally Dixon, who took part, says trekkers had to tackle several mental and physical obstacles.

“Yes, the tent situation was cold, wet, uncomfortable, however this pales in comparison to what some people face every day,” Ms Dixon said.

“It was a privilege to partake in this opportunity and I take immense pride in the contribution we have been able to make for those struggling to access basic necessities.”

CBN CEO Richard Crawford says the event helped support “a cause close to our hearts”.

“Organisations like Foodbank play a vital role in helping communities recover and rebuild after major catastrophes,” Mr Crawford said.

“This contribution will make a meaningful impact in alleviating hunger and providing meals to vulnerable people across Australia.

“No doubt the experiences and stories from this year will see this important annual event grow in terms of participation and the contribution it has made to support our community.”
